Mission Statement

In alignment with Genesee Community College’s Strategic Initiatives, testing Center seeks to support students’ self-efficacy, independence, and self-directed learning by providing a location and proctor for:

  • Student who receive testing accommodations through an eligibility determination by the office of Access and Accommodations
  • Students who need placement testing
  • Students who need “make-up” tests and examinations for regular classes
  • GCC students (by individual appointment as available) for special circumstance testing needs

Testing Center Rules and Requirements

The Testing Center is available for students with accommodations for academic exams and for placement testing. All our services are by appointment only. Our center is equipped with 3 surveillance cameras. Testers are monitored throughout the test. Students must follow the following regulations:

  • For your protection, photo ID is required for all tests. If you do not have a current and valid government ID or school district ID, here are the ways you can get one to take the Accuplacer test:
  • Scratch paper is provided and must be turned in with your test.
  • No earphones may be worn in the testing area.
  • Cell phones need to be turned in to the Testing Associate during the test.
  • All personal belongings must be placed in the lockers before entering the testing room.
  • No children or visitors are allowed in the testing area.
  • No drinks or food allowed in the Testing Area.
  • Students cannot have their hoods up during a test.
  • No jackets or hats are to be worn while taking a test.

Batavia Campus Hours

  • Monday: 9:00am – 6:00pm
  • Tuesday: 9:00am – 6:00pm
  • Wednesday: 9:00am – 6:00pm
  • Thursday: 9:00am – 6:00pm
  • Friday: 9:00am – 4:00pm

Testing hours are subject to change during holidays and summer. Students are encouraged to call (585) 343-0055 x6354 or email testing@drordi.com before testing. Please allow enough time to complete the test before the scheduled closing time.

Placement Testing

Placement test scores are required for all of our new incoming and transfer students for placement into Reading, English and Math classes. Students who have ACT, SAT, High School Regents scores or High School GPA on file in the Admission’s office may be exempt from taking the College’s placement test.
